70年代，伊朗女孩赫拉在罗马尼亚上大学，她认识了一个叫玛利亚的同学。在79年反对君主制的革命爆发后，赫拉怀着政治变革的希望回国，此后再也没离开。接下来的几十年，赫拉和玛利亚通过书信传情的方式，交流她们对政治、社会和人生的看法，直到罗马尼亚也迎来苏东巨变。两场革命之间，是两个女人超越时空的精神恋爱。导演用详实的历史资料作为支撑，通过模糊纪录片和剧情片边界的方式讲述这段感人往事。

伦敦塔是英国皇家的要塞，位于伦敦城东南角泰晤士河北岸，包括了内场的13个塔和外场的6个塔和棱堡，占地12英亩。1066年，征服者威廉一世加冕成为英国国王后下令建造，附属结构的修建持续了几个世纪。最古老的主体建筑是位于中心的诺曼底塔楼，因其是用乳白色石块建成，故又称白塔。 英国数代国王都曾在此居住，国王加冕前住在伦敦塔则更成为一种惯例。而伦敦塔更是以监狱出名，共关押过大约1700名囚徒，不少王公贵族和政界名人都曾在这里度过人生最后阶段。亨利六世因为在玫瑰战争中失利，进入伦敦塔后被爱德华四世杀害。1483年，当时13岁即位的幼主爱德华五世及其胞弟理查德被关入伦敦塔后就没有出现了。多数人认为，他们被其叔叔理查德三世谋害了。1554年，九日女王“简格雷”被以叛国罪名处死时不过18岁。亨利八世把《乌托邦》的作者托马斯椠尔关入伦敦塔，他的两任妻子安妮娠靓、凯瑟琳.
